In meeting the goal for the day, up to 192 people were given a chance to live. The Nodaway Valley High School Student Council is nearly at their goal of 250 units to earn $2,500 in scholarships for the seniors. The student council would like to thank all who gave blood for their patience and hope to see you at their next blood drive, Wednesday, April 22 at the high school. Mark your calendars!
Volunteer Recognition—Congratulations to Mark B for being selected as Iowa's top High School Youth Volunteer  in the 2015 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards Program. Mark will receive a $1,000 award, engraved silver medallion and all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. for a series of National Recognition events from May 2-5. Mark has a chance at winning additional awards when he is in Washington, DC.

High School AttendanceClick here to view the new Board-approved high school student attendance policy effective immediately.  Please note: student absences due to a doctor’s appointment must have a doctor’s note and students will not be allowed to leave the building to go home or to their vehicles to retrieve items.  These attendance policy changes also impact eligibility for post-secondary education opportunity/online/academy classes.

After School Study Time at Middle School—As we begin second semester, we are starting a program to help students make up assignments and assessments. We will intervene weekly if a student is failing or scoring 2.0 in a class. Most likely it means a student has missing assignments or assessments. This program will be updated every Monday. We are hoping by intervening early and requiring students to stay after school, students will get caught up, increase learning and will see the importance of meeting deadlines. [ Letter to Parents and Students ]

Coach B Wins 500—Coach B made history on December 9, becoming the 37th coach in the 104 years of the Iowa High School Athletic Association history to win 500 games in a career! With a 53-33 win over Lenox, Coach B became the 13th active coach to reach the 500-career win milestone! CONGRATULATIONS, COACH B! Congratulations to all the players and managers that helped make this happen, to all the assistant coaches, and to all the awesome NV and B-F Fans!

Family Lunch AccountsNew this year is the establishment of family meal accounts so that all meal transactions for a family are drawn from one central account. If a student currently has a lunch balance, funds will be drawn from this account first. Once the student account is reduced to a zero balance, the student's meal transactions will cause a transfer of funds from the family account to cover the cost of their purchases. To deposit funds to the family account, log into the JMC Parent portal, select Lunch and click on 'Make Online Deposit (Family Account)'. If you do not want a Family Lunch Account, email info@nodawayvalley.org.
